Teach West London, in partnership with the Department for Education (DfE) and expert local partners, is dedicated to providing exceptional development and support for Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and trainee teachers.

Our Early Careers Framework (ECTP) Conference, held in February at Ada Lovelace CofE High School brought together partners, facilitators and school leaders for a day filled with insightful discussions, learning and valuable networking. The event was a great opportunity to share experiences and shape the future of early career teacher education.

Speakers included Mark Quinn (UCL), Aman Kochhar (Ealing Fields), Amanda Murphy (Bishop Ramsey), Andy Jeffries (Bishop Ramsey), Debbie Cumings (Harrow), Sarah Cooper (West Lodge Primary) and Sophia Khan (West Lodge Primary), who provided shared invaluable insights into supporting early career teachers.

Attendees enjoyed the chance to connect, collaborate, share experiences and reflect with colleagues from different local authorities. Sessions at the Conference covered key areas including reviewing how best to adapt UCL resources for our local contexts and share best practices for developing learning through dialogue.

Sam Barnsley, Deputy Head of Teaching School Hub said: “Bringing our facilitators together was a real reminder that the strength of our ECTP lies not just in the programme, but in the quality of professional dialogue behind it. It was inspiring to see colleagues share best practice, reflect honestly on how the programme is landing and wrestle with the challenge of being both the expert in the room and the guide who creates space for revelatory moments.”

We’re committed to continuing to support those in the teaching profession and stimulating further conversations at future conferences, a huge thank you to all who attended and contributed.

We look forward to seeing the incredible impact of your work in schools and communities across West London.
