Ofsted recognises Teach West London as Exceptional

A milestone for our trainees, schools and communities

We are delighted that Teach West London has been recognised by Ofsted as Exceptional, the highest judgement available for initial teacher education providers. Inspectors found that our practice is "of the highest standard nationally".

While we are incredibly proud of this recognition, what matters most is what it represents: outstanding preparation for future teachers, strong partnerships with schools and, ultimately, better outcomes for children and young people across West London.

This judgement reflects the dedication of our trainees, mentors, placement schools and staff, who work together every day to develop skilled teachers who put children first and create a lasting impact on classrooms and communities.

 

Highlights from the report

Inspectors recognised the quality and impact of our training across both primary and secondary programmes, awarding an Exceptional judgement in:

  • Professional Behaviours, Personal Development and Wellbeing

Across both phases, inspectors found that trainees are exceptionally well prepared for teaching careers and thrive within a highly supportive and ambitious programme.

What makes Teach West London different?

The report highlights many of the features that define our approach to teacher training.

School-based from the start

Trainees are immersed in school life from the beginning of their journey, learning alongside expert teachers and applying new knowledge in the classroom every day. Inspectors noted that trainees rapidly translate learning into effective classroom practice and are exceptionally well prepared for the realities of teaching.

Carefully chosen placement schools

Unlike many providers, our trainees are recruited to a specific partnership school. Ofsted recognised this as a distinctive strength, helping trainees quickly establish professional relationships and become confident in the expectations and routines of school life.

Exceptional support

Inspectors highlighted the highly personalised support available throughout the programme, describing a culture where trainees are known as individuals and receive tailored guidance from expert mentors and staff.

A partnership built on excellence

Ofsted found that partnership working is "universally cohesive and purposeful", with every decision focused on maximising the quality of training and creating wider impact across schools and the profession.
