When you train to teach Primary with Teach West London, you'll have the opportunity to choose from one of our 50 partner Primary schools across West London. You’ll spend four days a week immersed in the culture and routines of your chosen placement school, gaining hands-on experience and support as you develop your teaching skills. The remaining day each week will be dedicated to high-quality training at one of our specialist training spaces within the Twyford CofE Academies Trust - the top-performing multi-academy trust in the country.

What Primary courses are available?

Our suite of courses includes fee-paying and employment based routes for Primary 5-11 and Primary with SEND specialism.

There are two course options:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) only (£8200)
    or
  • Qualified Teacher Status & Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) (£9250)
     

Where can I teach?

We work with over 50 Primary schools across West London in the boroughs of Ealing, Hounslow, Hillingdon and Harrow.

What support will I have?

We are committed to helping you succeed. As a trainee, you'll receive comprehensive support to ensure you thrive in your teacher training and beyond. This includes dedicated mentors, pastoral support for your wellbeing  and access to a wide network of professional development opportunities within our teaching school hub. What are the entry requirements?

If you’re applying for Initial Teacher Training (ITT) you must have an undergraduate degree (or equivalent).

  • For QTS only ideally with a 1st, 2:1 or 2:2*
  • For QTS & PGCE you must have a 1st, 2:1 or 2:2

*Teach West London may be willing to consider applicants who have a 3rd in their degree for the QTS only pathway, this will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Proof of certificates for UK and international qualifications will be required.

All applicants must have at least:

  • Grade 4/C (or equivalent) in GCSE Maths
  • Grace 4/C (or equivalent) in GCSE English
  • For primary courses, a grade 4/C (or equivalent) in a GCSE Science subject

Although it is not essential, it is desirable for applicants to have had some experience (including lesson observations) in a primary or secondary school by the time that the training course begins.

For salaried courses, some relevant work experience at the time of applying is highly desirable. Further experience of working with children, for example helping with a youth club or sports team is beneficial to your application.
